A rogue KGB agent is captured by the CIA. Once on American soil, he claims that he has new information concerning an MI6 operation to eliminate a Bosnian war criminal named Hordivan Kolvhnic. The British government show an interest in what he has to say, and request he be transported to the UK. On his arrival in England, an attempt is made on his made on his life, and he is rushed to hospital, where he is placed under guard, but Mr White's organisation succeeds in breaching security, and a lone assassin does away with the Soviet agent. 007 discovers that the killer is a member of staff at the British HQ of a global company Colvin Enterprises, run by a twin brother and sister, Vanessa and Patrick. M assigns Bond to keep an eye on the UK end of the corporation, using a health & safety inspection as cover, where he learns of something “Operation Drop-kick”. Unfortunately, he is recognised by the driver of the ambulance that the KGB agent's killer fled in. Bond's bid to uncover this plot takes him to a secret factory in Norway, where he spies a helicopter identical to the one to be used in the ceremony to open a new RAF base in a few days time. Further investigation uncovers the truth about the Secret Service operation to eradicate Kolvahnic, and it also reveals that Vanessa and Patrick are actually the children of the dead Bosnian colonel, who are out for revenge, by recreating the attack, led by Major Richard Lenwood - the man who is scheduled to peform the ceremony, that killed their parents and some of Hordivan's associates. Using his ruthlessness and ingenuity, 007, with the help of rookie agent Mary Goodnight, is able to thwart their vendetta and save the RAF base from destruction.
