In Outworld, the forces of evil that were once defeated by Raiden and his team of Earthrealm Warriors have been resurrected and are formed under a deadly alliance that threatens to bring about the destruction of all realms. Liu Kang has been killed by Shang Tsung and cursed to go on as a walking corpse, trapped in the pits of his dungeons.
In a Mortal Kombat Tournament, Raiden is defeated by the Dragon King Onaga and has to forfeit Earthrealm's control. Armageddon has begun.
Not intent on letting Shang Tsung, the sorcerer Quan Chi, Shao Kahn and Onaga crush Earthrealm mercilessly, Princesses Kitana and Jade along with their warriors rescue Earth's most deadliest warriors in an attempt to give them a chance at redemption. The gods it seems will have nothing to say about this quest for total domination!
Escorted to Edenia, the influence of the Elder Gods gives them powers they could never have imagined and not only that, reunites them with their fallen God of Thunder Raiden.
Their journey takes them through the Netherworlds and Outworld to band together the greatest warriors known and to meet the Deadly Alliance's army in the Wastelands where every war has been fought since before the Mortal Kombat Tournament was instated.
Only then might Liu Kang be restored to his old self and Johnny Cage be resurrected. Maybe even Earth can be saved. But who will be able to defeat the Dragon King if Raiden, the God of Thunder, could not?
Full-on fatalities commence!
