Grace Brothers store puts the mens readymade and the ladieswear departments across from each other and antics, mishaps and innuendo fly across the aisle. The original characters were always the best: irascible Mr Grainger; oversexed Mr Lucas; boorish Mr Mash and ‘young’ Mr Grace outshone their replacements. The best late addition was batty Miss Belfridge. Could it work with 21st century sensibilities? Sure! One thing though – the original cast were all white, so it could use some diversity. My problem is I know of only a few non-white Brits, none of whom I can see in the roles.
