According to Wikepedia, New Line Cinema and Quantic Dream Pictures have obtained the rights to produce a film based on the “interactive drama” Heavy Rain.
The game focuses on the search for a serial murderer known as the “Origami Killer.” The Origami Killer abducts small children who are found drowned four days later, and then he leaves behind a piece of origami and an orchid as his macabre calling cards.
Four total strangers launch completely unconnected investigations into the killer's identity, all for completely different motivates.
Main Characters
Ethan Mars - A young architect who lost a son, Jason, two years earlier. Now seperated from his wife and in a strained relationship with his other son, Shaun, Ethan is hurled into the search for the Origami Killer when Shaun is abducted and put in danger of becoming the killer's latest victim.
Madison Paige - A single photojournalist living alone in the city. Her insomnia causes her to frequently check into motels, where she meets Ethan and becomes drawn into a relationship with him, and into the search for the Origami Killer.
Scott Shelby - A retired police officer, now working as a private investigator. Shelby is conducting a search for clues to the Origami Killer's identitiy.
Agent Norman Jayden - A psychological profiler for the FBI. Is assisting the local police department with their investigation. Uses a piece of experimental equipment called the ARI to find and quickly analyze forensic evidence.
Supporting Characters
Lt. Carter Blake - Detective leading the police department's investigation. Clashes with Agent Jayden.
Lauren Winters - A mother of one of the Origami Killer's victims, who insists on partnering with Scott Shelby to hunt down the murderer.
Gordi Kramer - The heir to a large fortune and Shelby's prime suspect.
Charles Kramer - Gordi's father. A wealthy tycoon with powerful connections.
Mad Jack - Runs a chop shop from the local scrapyard. An incredibly dangerous ex-con Agent Jayden tangles with for information.
Paco Mendez - Owns the nightclub Blue Lagoon and may have a connection with the Origami Killer.
Ann Shephard - An origami-loving patient in the hospital's geriatric ward who may hold the key to mystery.
Captain Perry - Police captain determined to give the public the Origami Killer, no matter what it takes.
