"Atomic batteries to power...turbines to speed."
While Christopher Nolan's films have popularized a darker, grittier Batman, it's a good time to relaunch the 1960's tongue-in-cheek comedy/adventure series that featured Adam West as Billionaire Playboy Bruce Wayne/Batman and Burt Ward as Youthful Ward Dick Grayson/Robin.
The world has become a darker place, but to Bruce Wayne and the citizens of Gotham City, it's like the swinging 60's never ended! Wayne resides at Stately Wayne Manor, with Faithful Butler Alfred, Youthful Ward Dick Grayson, and Grayson's doddering Maternal Aunt Harriet Cooper. As Batman and Robin, the Dynamic Duo is duly deputized by Commissioner James Worthington Gordon and Chief Clancy O'Hara to battle various nefarious knaves who threaten the safety of the innocent denizens of Gotham.
Not only will a new actor have to be found to replace Adam West's classic deadpan panache playing the Caped Crusader, but all of his classic enemies must be recast as well. Not only that, but in addition to his classic foes, a darker world calls for darker (and more outrageous) new criminals. Criminals like The Joker's new partner-in-crime, Harley Quinn; Killer Moth, a criminal who considers himself the "Anti-Batman", complete with Mothcave and Mothmobile; formerly charming television news anchor turned master criminal after an explosion on the set turns him into Harvey Two-Face; Poison Ivy, a comely crook who commits crimes of the "garden variety"; and The Scarecrow, a disturbed individual who dresses like a character out of The Wizard of Oz but uses psychadelic drugs as weapons!
With all the familiar "Wham", "Bam", and "Pow"'s of the 1960's satirical superhero farce, it's . . .
A new Bat-time! A new Bat-channel! But some things never change . . .
