Since time immemorial, there's been a paradise seperate from our world called the Crystal Plains. In this world filled with always sunny weather, mystical creatures, and untold treasure, melodies and music will sometimes take the form of a note shaped gem if the melody is one that needs to be remembered. Since these gems can only hold so much of a melody, a song usually needs multiple notes to make a complete melody. Because of this, a popular game on the plains is treasure hunting for note gems, with the first one to complete a set and a melody winning. But out of all the note gems on the Plains, it is rare for a set of note gems to follow the exact order of the rainbow, and any sets like this, called Rainbow Notes, are considered special. Furthermore, songs created by a set of Rainbow Notes are said to be magical.
One particular set of eight Rainbow Notes, the Rainbow Notes of Life, protects this world, guarded by twin pegasi: Hinote and his sister Kouri.
But one day, evil beings from the realm of evil, the Black Realm, descended on the Plains. Led by the beautiful and seductive Lady Dischord, these tried to steal and destroy the Rainbow Notes of Life in hopes they could corrupt the Crystal Plains with Dark Noise. Horrified by the thought of their home being reduced to a place filled with noise, evil, and despair; Hinote and Kouri took the eight Rainbow Notes of Life and carried them to a place where they hoped they would be safe–the Green Plains (our world).
Not one to be easily deterred, Lady Dischord and her minions took up a search for the Rainbow Notes, under the presumption that she could fill both the Crystal Plains and the Green Plains with noise. But she didn't count on Hinote and Kouri awakening the two fighters that protected them–Pretty Cure, comprised of Cure Ember and Cure Glacier.
Together with Hinote and Kouri, can Homura Boukeno and Yuki Hanshou find the eight Rainbow Notes and unleash their song to save both the Crystal Plains and the Green Plains?
