Michael Rogers, a young taxi driver from Deansgate, Manchester, loses his job, when the cab firm goes bust. He moves down to the home counties and secures employment as a chauffeur to a billionaire, Sir George Constantine. Whilst on his way to pick up his boss from the aiport, he spots a beautiful young woman taking an interest in a large mansion named Gypsy's Acre. She introduces herself as Ellie Goodman, the daughter of an American tycoon. They start dating and, after a while, they fall in love with one another. When Michael proposes to her, she immediately buys Gypsy's Acre, but a spinster from the nearby town warns them that the house will bring them bad luck. Taking no notice, they get married and move in, along with Ellie's former Au Pair, Greta Jorgensen, now her housekeeper. Then, accidents begin to happen, which inevitably leads to the curse surrounding the place coming true, with tragic consequences….
