Christopher Boone is an autistic15 year old with a pet rat and a passion for mathematics. One night he finds Wellington, his neighbor's dog dead-- stabbed with a gardening implement. The night of this horrible discovery,he is taken by police to the station to be questioned. Thereafter it is widely (and mistakenly) presumed that Christopher is the dog killer. But the boy is determined to prove his innocence. Despite everyone telling him to drop the issue and move on, Christopher launches an investigation, emulating his literary hero Sherlock Holmes. He winds up uncovering much more than who killed Wellington....
