(This is an idea that I've had on my mind since I was 11 years old.)
18 months after seemingly all of humanity had suddenly disappeared off the face of the Earth when a mysterious cosmic phenomenon breaches the planet's atmosphere, young survivor David Woodsman struggles to live on his own dreading that he may be the only one left with no reason to continue on living but also confused as to why he's still around when everyone else is gone. But this changes when he suddenly crosses paths with another survivor, a young woman named Samira, who had been travelling alone in search of a new home after the rest of her family had vanished, and despite differences in both methods of survival and cultural sensitivities (Samira comes from a strict Muslim upbringing whilst David is an atheist), the two of them learn that they must survive together and they ultimately develop an intense romantic infatuation towards each other. But things are about to become much worse for them once they discover that the phenomenon that also brought an elusive and sinister extraterrestrial presence upon the Earth that now being aware of David and Samira soon begins to hunt them.
(Side note: Essentially, this story would be one-part apocalyptic romance and one-part slow suspenseful survival horror.)
MPA Rating: Rated R for sexuality/nudity, and some disturbing violent content/terror.
CHARACTERS:
David Woodsman - A young white American survivor with atheist beliefs struggling to live alone in the abandoned ruins of Chicago and developed a cynical and nihilistic point of view on everything following humanity's disappearance from the phenomenon and fearing that he's the last living human left on Earth.
Samira Mowbray - A young Afghan-British survivor coming from a strict Muslim upbringing who had been travelling alone for some time in the search for a new place to call home after the rest of her family had vanished in the event of the phenomenon. She is more hopeful than David is and naturally doesn't approve of his atheism, nihilistic attitude and wreckless survival methods though she grows more empathetic towards him and despite her beliefs eventually begins to develop a strong sexual/romantic interest in him and vice versa.
