Sheltered and emotionally stunted teenager Mark Bolton has spent most of his life on the move with his paranoid and stressed out mother who had been desperately trying to keep his existence a secret from the rest of the world. From birth, Mark had inherited unique telekinetic powers from some unknown force and has been living on the run in order to avoid being apprehended by government officials out of the fear that he might be experimented on and possibly turned into a weapon of war. But Mark soon decides that he's had enough of this life and he just wants to be normal, so they eventually move to small and secluded town in northern California when Mark enrols in the local high school, as long as he promises to try the best he can to keep his abilities a secret. Though seen as an outcast and met with mild hostility with both his peers and his teachers, he's able to make a very small group of friends though it doesn't take them long to natural become suspicious of what Mark could be hiding. But when the school suffers a massive tragedy, Mark thinks there's something more to this than what people are letting on and so his natural curiosity encourages him to look further in and he decides to use his abilities to help investigate. Eventually, Mark finds himself entangled in a deadly conspiracy that the whole town has a part in, and also the forces that had been hunting Mark all his life are closing in.
MPAA Rating: Rated PG-13 for thematic material including some intense action/violence, disturbing images, brief sensuality/nudity, and language.

(Side note: Essentially, this movie more of a slow-burn suspenseful character-based superhero story but it all leads up to an big finale.)

We eventually that she's not Mark's real mother, she was a government who part of the program that Mark was born from and she took him away and raised him so he can't be used for the government's agenda.)
Allison Greyfield - A smart, pretty, friendly yet secretly troubled daughter of the town's mayor, and a classmate of Mark's who one of a few people to show care and compassion towards him, she eventually becomes his love interest.
Doug Gibson - A bullied and geeky classmate of Mark's who discovers his abilities and believes he could be a real-life superhero.
Brandon Sharp - The captain and sole survivor of the school's football team that died in a fire, the school bully and he's Allison's ex-boyfriend feels protective of her. (
In fact, Upon discovering Mark's powers, Brandon rats him out to the government.)
Elizabeth Mundae - A strict no-nonsense taking and pressured government agent and was the head of the program Mark was born from and is determined to fix any problem caused in the past any way she can.
Mason Greyfield - Allison's father and the town's mayor who's under suspicion for some illegal activities as of late.
Derek Sharp - Brandon's uncle and the town's chief of police.
