(The fifth of the ten installments in the “CryptoVerse” series)
A boat crew of six are being targeted by a legendary sea monster, believed to be anything from a hoax to wishful thinking to being the misidentification of a mundane object in the scientific community, who is searching for her wandering offspring that they have captured.
Neil Pfeiffer: The male lead and the human antagonist. Violent, greedy and opportunistic, he is an American crew member who is desperate for the fame of capturing an infant Loch Ness Monster, even if it means himself holding it hostage from its mother costs the other crew members their lives (if he is not the one to harm them himself if they find themselves in his way), not seeming to take into consideration the fact that it includes his own life as well.
Emilia Brown: The female lead, the human protagonist and an empowering character for the black, feminist and LGBT communities. A black Scottish lesbian feminist who is caring, intelligent, independent and strong, she is the voice of reason among the crew who believes that not all of the world's mysteries are meant to be solved. She thoroughly dislikes Neil and is at constant odds with him, especially when they capture an infant Loch Ness Monster as she has great respect for the legend and believes that it needs to be returned home to its mother in the lake. As opposed to the rest of the crew, she holds absolutely no fear towards Neil whatsoever.
Archibald “Archie” Morrison: The secondary human protagonist and the best friend of Emilia.
Ju Lei: Member of the boat crew.
Kirsty: Member of the boat crew.
Greer: Member of the boat crew.
