A reboot of the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise, set in the Slasherverse.
April 1986, a group of scientists including a few teenage interns are studying the realms and ramifications what sleeping and dreams can have on the human mind and body, their research leads them to Springwood, Ohio after learning about reports of young people in the town have started dying in their sleep. They set up on Elm Street where they interview the children and the teenagers who all say that every night they have dreams where they're hunted by a burnt man wearing a clawed glove. As the scientists continue their research, the younger members of their group start having these dreams too and some of them end up horrific killed, they eventually discover that the town has secret of being haunted by the memories of a man named Fred “Freddy” Krueger, also known as The Springwood Slasher, a serial killer whose modus operandi was stalking and killing the children of the town, but after the courts failed, the vengeful parents of the town tracked him down and killed him by burning, and so they begin to believe that Freddy has come back and is killing people in their dreams.
MPAA Rating: Rated R for strong bloody horror violence, bloody and disturbing images, terror, language and some nudity.
Madison Tomlin - A teenage intern in a group of scientists studying sleep, she used to lived in Springwood when she was a little girl but moved away after her twin sister died, though has a repressed memory of what happened. It is revealed when Freddy was alive, he kidnapped Madison and her sister and he killed her sister while Madison escaped.
David Valverde - A young, quirky, cowardly yet kindhearted scientist who acts as a supportive friend to Madison.
Dr Matthew Langencamp - The head scientist behind the dream research.
Sheriff Ritchen - Springwood's newly appointed sheriff who was the leader of the parents who burned Freddy alive.
Molly Ritchen - Sheriff Ritchen's estranged teenage daughter.
Jake Wimmer - Molly's overprotective ex-boyfriend.
