The final and saddening entry to the Lone Wolf series.
PLOT: The war has begun. All loyalties have been cut, and friendships have been sacrificed for the purpose of whose dominant and whose inferior. Anon is no match for his own dangerous abilities and the dark side of humanity blinded by their own ideals of saving humanity from the vampires. Marlene reveals a shocking truth involving Kyra to her brother that will test their relationship and the girl who saved Anon's life. Payton-Marcus now wants to obliterate the human race and kill the Lone Wolves, not realizing that the mutants are out for their own. Miles and the last of his crew will rebel against the odds and fight for their lives to redeem themselves for years of trying to prevent the brink of extinction.
MPAA: Rated R for sci-fi action and war violence/gore and language throughout.
(Sarah/Kyra revealed to Marlene before her escape out into the Scorch that she is the daughter of Anon and Marlene, prompting the woman to have a change of heart towards her and pleads for Sean to take her back to the vampires to protect her. Sean/RAGE is taken aback with surprise but refuses to let his sister return to battle. The fight begins when Payton-Marcus attacks the human resistance and the vampires begin to invade the colony. Alpha is perplexed when some of his own start listening to the insane man and realizes he created a technological piece that enables him to communicate with the vampires. Miles soon arrives with his crew and the war continues, blood for blood.
Kyra is almost killed in the chaos while fighting with some of Payton-Marcus's own mutants, but Sean jumps in at the last moment and sacrifices himself to protect the girl. No last words are exchanged as Kyra is pulled away by Alpha and James, who refuses to believe his friend is dead. The next day, Miles and the rest of the human resistance rally up to figure out how to kill Payton-Marcus and come to a cease-fire. Meanwhile, Marlene is in shock over Sean's death and blames James for not remembering their affair from the previous timeline before her brother reset the future, knowing that she and Sean never meant to kill him. James reveals he had fragments from the previous timeline but some were slowly restored by Sebastian who warned him of an incoming war, but did not remember having a child (which is why Marlene went through psychotic fits and mutant changes in the new timeline.
The last 50 minutes of this 2-hour-and-47-minute finale when Miles, the two Lone Wolves, and the human resistance charge against Payton-Marcus and the vampires. Alpha, who had been locked up and chained by the madman, falls under Payton-Marcus's influence and fights against the humans. Marlene is killed during a fight with the mind-controlled Alpha and James is closer to disabling Payton-Marcus's technology when he is mortally wounded, due to not having enough vampire blood within him. Alpha comes to his senses and realizes what he's done, thus charging after Payton-Marcus and killing him for good.
As James lies dying next to Marlene, he sees Kyra one last time and makes her promise never to become a mutant weapon and to live the rest of her life in peace. Disheartened, Kyra mutters “Dad…” and Anon dies peacefully. Miles and the human resistance hold a ceremony for the fallen heroes as Kyra delivers a eulogy and is taken under her wing by Miles, who bids farewell to his son James. 40 years later, an elder Miles sits on his deathbed in the hospital where humanity has now be restored and is done citing his story to Kyra. He dies shortly after seeing Kyra eye to eye, leaving the woman to continue with her life and ponder about the stories told by Miles.)
