A horror-comedy revolving around the Sherman family: father, Trevor; mother, Olivia; and young son, Bradley. Trevor is a brilliant software engineer, but with his brilliance comes a cost: that is, an estranged relationship between his wife and son. Trevor's incessant workaholic nature also poses a larger, more sinister threat: the mythical character Sandman finds himself weakened by Trevor's lack of sleep. The Sandman, using what power he has left in an act of rage, sends Trevor into an impenetrable sleep. With no other choice, Olivia and Bradley find themselves tasked with entering the Dream World, The Sandman's usual residence, to find the character and bring Trevor back to the real world.
(A few notes: the Dream World would essentially be a mirror of the real world, but much more surreal and, well, dream-like. Think a toned down version of the sequences in Doctor Strange. The Sandman himself would be a live-action/CGI hybrid, in the vein of the Neil Gaiman story of the same name but not exactly the same appearance-wise, obviously.)
Rated PG-13 for sequences of horror violence/terror and language.
