A fourth entry into my little superhero group, only this time it'll be a standalone sci-fi buddy cop-style movie.
In the distant future, a new division of authorities in Australia are sent from space to investigate Mercury, where an urbanized city is inhabited with a new alien race that is capable of saving humanity. One agent, the hot-shot but charming Australian Alyssa Brackett, questions the orders given by her leader and is forced to go along with the plan in order to find out more about the civilization. She goes on her own mission, only to run into a dangerous wanderer with a dark sense of humor and Alyssa's team ends up taking him in. The individual turns out to be Joshua Reynolds, a disgraced and former mercenary turned rebel against the system, who believes Alyssa's unit is hiding secrets that involve invading the planet.
Suddenly, the authorities are invaded by a force of aliens similar to what Alyssa and her unit had encountered on the planet, and releases Joshua while engaging in a firefight. The man escapes but ends up trapped with the Australian agent when the leader of the planet targets the duo and are forced to pair up to retrieve a missing piece that belongs to the planet - a golden trident with a platinum jewel that controls the energy on the dying planet.
Comparison Pitch: R.I.P.D meets Pitch Black meets Guardians of the Galaxy meets Jupiter Ascending.
MPAA: Rated PG-13 for stylized fantasy violence and action, brief sexual content including crude humor and language.
