(I've set up a tiny little survey on my profile if you guys would like to check it out! I'd like to start posting more ideas here now that I'm on summer break!)
13-year-old Michael Mathison lives a troubled life in rural Indiana. Michael feels out of place at home, succumbing to life as the family's middle child. Michael feels out of place at school even more so, with his love for art, and appreciation for learning in general, not earning him any acquaintances his own age.
Michael's life takes a hard turn into the unordinary, however, as mysterious happenings begin to occur around him. Everyday objects seem to shift on their own. Disembodied voices. Strange bouts of heat and cold. All of this is followed by the appearance of a young girl named Rachel. Rachel appears similar in age to Michael, but shows a lack of familiarity with society. Strangest of all… only he can see her. As Michael learns of her condition, a spirit caught between the physical world and whatever lies beyond, the two lost souls, each lost in their own way, bond and teach each other valuable lessons about life.
*Shannon Mathison - Michael's soon to be college-bound sister
*Henry Mathison - Michael's six-year-old brother
*Steven and Katherine Mathison - Michael's parents, who currently share a troubled relationship
*Ms. April Williamson - Michael's science teacher and closest friend at school
*Dr. Wyatt Reynolds - a doctor Michael is taken to for his claims of seeing a ghostly spirit
