Part ten and the final entry in Volume II of my DC cinematic universe “rebirth” series. As per usual, I'll probably take a little break before getting into Volume III, and use that time not only to plan it out, but to focus on school and work!
Following the attack on Earth by Brainiac, Bruce Wayne/The Batman returns to Gotham City, physically and mentally exhausted. His time of rest, however, is cut short, as a series of mysterious disappearances in Gotham send The Batman into a harrowing mind-game set up by the ingenious Riddler. All the while, Wayne balances conflicting relationships with news reporter Vicki Vale and seductive cat burglar Selina Kyle, while The Joker, seemingly unimpressed with the results of his temporary takeover in Arkham Asylum, once again targets his antithesis where it hurts.
The only thing I really wanted to point out was one change I decided on since The Batman. Basically, Dick Grayson/Nightwing would be established in The Batman, in the role I originally gave to Jason Todd. Todd would instead be established as an Arkham guard aiding Batman and Nightwing inside the prison, and would be established as Robin by the end of that movie. It's a bit of a change from the comics, but I like it! Aside from that, this movie would very much be a detective mystery style movie, and would essentially set the dark tone I'm aiming for with Volume III's lineup of movies.
Main inspirations: The “Batman: Arkham” video games, “Batman: A Death in the Family”, and “Batman: The Killing Joke”.
Rated R for strong pervasive violence, language, and brief sexuality.
