Part four of Volume I of my DC Cinematic Universe “rebirth” series.
Themyscira. A mystical, utopian island hidden on Earth, inhabited by Amazons and isolated from the rest of humanity after being disappointed with their morals: among the Amazons is Diana, the demigoddess daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta. The exclusion of the Amazons from humanity soon reaches an end, as a United States Air Force officer, Steve Trevor, crash lands on Themyscira. As Trevor heals in the presence of the Amazons, Hippolyta reluctantly establishes a contest to decide an ambassador to deliver Trevor back to humanity. Diana, against her mother's wishes, enters the contest, and faces off against Artemis, Nubia, Sofia, and Minerva to become the Wonder Woman, all while forming a bond with Trevor.
In keeping with the sort of running theme of each film being a very specialized genre, this movie would very much be a swords-and-sandals epic. It's pretty to-the-point, but I do want to clarify that Minerva/Cheetah would be the main “villain.” Her transformation into Cheetah would come from a failed attempt to strengthen herself with ancient Amazonian practices.
Main inspirations: The “Golden Age” run, and “DC Universe Rebirth #4”.
Rated PG-13 for sequences of epic fantasy violence.
