After sacrificing himself to get his team to Paradise, which is now uniting the other moderately populated areas on the planet to form a new America, Cross discovers that one of the hostages he and the Wasteland Warriors captured during the attack against Winchester is Anon, who has left General Porter's new military base after protecting his own army and declined the offer to run as second in command.
After a brief and lengthy fight, both Anon and Cross still do not trust each other - Cross based on his suspicions that Anon is a half-cannibal; the latter accuses him of being another one of the deceased General de Bond's minions in space.
Soon, while working on a mission to find communication with Paradise and the other Warriors, Anon and Cross are met by a psychotic teleporting half human/half android known as Clear, who is able to outsmart the two with his teleporting ability and telepathy.
Setting aside their differences, Anon and Cross will have to work together in order to find an area of communication in the scorching deserts while dealing with extreme desert storms and Clear's persistence to kill both men who want to go to Paradise.
