From Seth Grahame-Smith, the author of Abraham Lincoln Vampire Night comes Unholy Night, an epic retelling of the Nativity story.
Balthazar is the daring thief known as the “Antioch Ghost.” When he is captured and thrown in the “puppet king” Herod's dungeon, he meets Gaspar and Melchyor, two common criminals. Stealing the clothes of three “Wise Men” who had come to give the criminals counseling before their executions, Balthazar, Gaspar, and Melchyor escape and flee to a stable in Bethlehem.
There they meet Joseph, Mary, and their newborn baby. When the “Three Wise Men” learn that Herod has dispatched soldiers to kill infants throughout Bethlehem, Balthazar vows to safely escort Mary, Joseph, and their child to safety in Egypt. Along the way, they are beset by Roman and Judean soldiers, swarms of locusts, the undead, and a powerful sorcerer known as the Magus, encountering figures such as John the Baptist and Pontius Pilate along the way.
