A silver mist, the by-product of an intergalactic war being fought light years away from the Milky Way, drifts towards Earth. A tiny portion of it descends on various areas of New York. The only person affected by it is a 17 year-old Muslim girl, Kamala Khan. Over the next few days, Kamala develops strange powers similar to ones exhibited by Captain Marvel (AKA Carol Danvers). Using her love of making costumes, she puts together an outfit with this super heroine's insignia on it, and assumes the mantle of Ms Marvel. Her amateur heroic exploits soon catch the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D and the Avengers, and they recruit her, much to the alarm of her friends and family. Meanwhile, the collapse of the original version of Nick Fury's organisation has led to the escape of Doctor Doom and his minions from imprisonment, utilising the extra-terrestrial mist's properties for his scheme to rule the world. Kamala barely has time to fully appreciate her extraordinary abilities when she is called into the conflict between Dr Doom and SHIELD & the Avengers. The question those who know her best are asking, though, is whether she is ready to face the challenges of being a female superhero…
