Launching point in a new Batman trilogy, imagining that Dawn of Justice or the Justice League movie fails, and Warner Bros. tries once again to create a new film franchise. This means no actors from the Dark Knight trilogy or the new film-verse are to be used.
After his parents are killed by mugger Joe Chill, 8-year-old Bruce Wayne is left to be raised by his butler, Alfred, and a family friend, nurse Leslie Thompkins. After learning from Chairman of the Board Lucius Fox that he will not inherit his father's position as CEO of the Wayne Medical Center, 20 year old Bruce witnesses, and fails to stop, a murder, leading him to travel the world and train to become a crime fighter, and earn the right to run his family company. After returning at 25, and now 27 year old Bruce faces his first major threat: The Riddler, whose victim, Dr. Pamela Isley, soon becomes an villainous embodiment of Batman's failure: Poison Ivy.
The film ends with a cameo by “Mr. Sionis”. The post-credits scene shows a man in an alley way being told he's “gonna help us commit a robbery”, followed quick shots of a man in a suit with a red dome over his head, and finally a red screen with a green smile painted across it. The red inside the smile fades and morphs into a black bat symbol outline in green as an evil, psychotic laugh is heard.
