  The Gunsliner… No wait, the ENTIRE Dark Tower series BEGS to be put on film, however since these are the GREATEST books ever written in the post apocaliptic fantasy western genre they would have to be done just right.
  For instance King KNOWS what he was doing weaving these stories, if you were to change even a little bit you could ruin the whole production.
  Speaking of which, in order to make this fantastic series into a film you would have to do it all at once (LOTR style)
  but the being said I and countless others would just die to see Roland Deshain of Gilead shoot the entire town of Tull.
  Or to see a house try and swallow Jake (not to metion what was going down on the OTHER side of the door at that moment)But really like what Roland, Jake, Eddie and Susanah Really want… I just HAVE to see that Tower.

  I dont like the casting options at all. Roland is much older then Viggo Mortensen. Think Robert Redford, and Eddie Dean should totally be Seann William Scott. And who ever plays Susannah should be much younger.

  The casting options you see aren't the only options. You can write in any actor you want.
  See this [imaginecasting.com]FAQ entry…
  
  Go here [imaginecasting.com], and it takes you to the top picks listing.
  Just click “vote” (which takes you here [imaginecasting.com])and the Character list comes up with no actors listed.
  You put your actors into the cast list, and “submit cast” on the bottom of the page. If you want to see which actors others chose, click the “magnifying glass” icon on the right, and a list will come up with all actors chosen for that particular role. if you want you can click one of these, and after that you can move on to the next actor on the list.

  I disagree Angela is WAY to old Naomie Harris(28 days later) on the other hand would be PERFECT!

  Just a quick comment on John Goodman as Mayor Thorin: I think whoever cast those votes may have been confusing the Mayor with the Sheriff. The Mayor was the one that Susan was betrothed to, the one who is often described as skinny and bony.
  
  Sheriff Avery was large but not soft; this doesn't fit John Goodman exactly, but it's closer than Thorin.
  
  Check out http://www.needcoffee.com/html/darktower.html [needcoffee.com] There's a lot of interesting ideas on there for a DT fan cast that I wouldn't have thought of (though it hasn't been updated in a while; personally I feel Haley Joel Osment is too old to play Jake now)

  Good point.
  Of course some would argue that only a DT purist would care. With the liberties that are taken in the average book-to-movie deal, I'll venture a guess that a skinny mayor is the least of our worries.

  Ah well, if we can't be purists then what's the point of fan casting in the first place? =) If you wanna get technical, by that logic Jennifer Aniston would be an acceptable Susannah, and you could creatively cast a female as Jake. The whole point of fan casting is to speculate who would most closely resemble the description of the character. Sure, John Goodman could play Thorin, but he isn't Thorin. Not like Malcolm McDowell is Thorin.

  Hate to break it to you, but Thorin is FICTIONAL. Don't think that I haven't loved the DT series for about ten years now, but there isn't going to be one perfect match.

  Anyone with any imagination can see why Clint Eastwood would be perfect to play Roland,with all the westerns he has starred in he is the only logical choice. The first Dark Tower book I read Clint was
  the one who came to mind as Roland .
