The story revolves around the Joker's sidekick Harley Quinn. She was once psychiatrist Dr. Harleen Quinzel, but fell head over heels in love with the maniacal Joker. Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City's Police Commissioner, James Gordon, is on her way to a society fancy dress ball, wearing a costume similar to Batman's, which she christened Batgirl, when she foils an attempt to kidnap Bruce Wayne. The Dark Knight eventually shows up and warns her not to do anything like that again, but she takes no notice, as she helps Batman to deal with the plans of the latest villian in town, The Clock King.
