Ni no Kuni revolves around thirteen-year-old Oliver, a resident of Motorville, whose mother, Alicia, dies from heart problems after rescuing him from drowning. As Oliver cries, his tears cause his doll, a gift from Alicia, to reveal itself as a male fairy named Drippy.
