When a strange pod crash-lands in the middle of Metropolis, Superman investigates and discovers, to his shock, that the pod contains a young Kryptonian boy. The boy is placed in the care of Clark Kent and Lois Lane who name him "Chris Kent", but they soon discover there is a sinister reason for his presence on Earth as General Zod, Ursa and Non escape from the Phantom Zone and begins plans to take over Earth, starting with Metropolis.
