Adapted from the novel of the same name, the screen version would portray events from the beginning of the war to the end based on the accounts of its main characters rather than looking back at them. Given the broad range of the novel's narrative for storytelling, rather than tell every single story told in the novel, the film would tell the primary story of the infestations' origins and the world's plight to survive the zombie onslaught with the main focus on America during its darkest days!
