Kevin Feige has announced that Marvel Studios is working on a film version of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, focusing on the 2008 team. It will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The planned release date is August 1, 2014. At the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel formally announced the film, with concept art portraying Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot.
