A remake of the 1994 first-person shooter originally developed by LucasArts, Dark Forces tells the story of Kyle Katarn, a former Imperial turned mercenary, who is sent by the Rebel Alliance to uncover the secrets of the Empire's latest weapon, the Dark Trooper, before it can be used in full force against the Rebellion. This new re-imagining of Dark Forces is written by William C. Dietz, author of the Dark Forces book trilogy based on the original Dark Forces and Jedi Knight games, and also tells the story of Kyle's decision to leave the Empire and fight for the Rebels.

They soon learn that all links lead to a terrorist organization known as H.A.R.M and Dimitrij Volkov, H.A.R.M's second only to the mysterious Director.
