One of Cambridge University's most brilliant and respected scientists, Professor Adam Coulter, is growing nearer to creating a serum that can activate the body's ability to regenerate damaged limbs at their cellular level. To ensure the success of this project, he plans to expose himself to Gamma radiation, in order to see whether the serum can protect him from the sun's energy, but he is hospitalised after a car accident, and his lab assistant, Jennifer Walters, who is studying biology and law, takes his place. A computer virus corrupts the system powering the gamma radiation device, and Jennifer is accidentally exposed to a near fatal dose, saved only by the serum, which absorbs the energy she has been exposed to. She appears to have no ill-effects and the doctors give her a clean bill of health. However, the next day sees a series of emotionally-charged encounters leading to a bizzare physical change into a nine-foot, green-skinned, woman-like creature....the She-Hulk!
