Kirk's historic five-year mission, the Earth Starfleet launches Enterprise (NX-01), the first starship to travel at Warp 5, under the command of Captain Jonathan Archer, the son of Henry Archer, the designer of Enterprise's revolutionary warp engine. Captain Archer leads his crew on Starfleet's very first mission "to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before."
