Abigail's Party by Mike Leigh - Plot variation by J.D. Taylor

Having achieved some of the middle-class aspirations in the first few years of the 1970s, Laurence and Beverly Moss decide to become socially connected with some of their neighbours in the posh suburb of Coventry they reside in, so they send out invitations to those living in that area. However, only three people turn up at the lavish dinner party: Tony & Angela Cooper and Susan Lawson, who has only come here to escape a party held by her sixteen year-old daughter. At first, the gathering seems cordial, but underlying domestic tensions between Laurence and Beverly start to rise to the surface during the course of the evening, leading to a tragedy occurring two hours later.
