During an attempt to defend his village against a demonic boar god, Prince Ashitaka is infected with an incurable--and fatal--curse. In order to save himself from his destined death, he travels west to ask the great Spirit of the Forest to heal him, but instead, finds himself in a fray between a village called Irontown, led by Lady Eboshi to create a sanctuary for women, men, and outcasts, but is destroying the forests surrounding them while industrializing, and the gods of the forest, led by the courageous, beautiful Princess Mononoke, a girl raised by Moro, a wolf god. Also along for this battle his a monk named Jigo and his riflemen, trying to retrieve the Spirit of the Forest's head in order to recieve great wealth and immortallity. Ashitaka soon finds himself trying to save the forest and the people of Irontown in the midst of an enormous battle. Can he persuade all those involved to make peace or is conflict inevitable between man and nature?
