Joe Kavanagh is an unemployed ex-alcoholic. He is coach of a soccer team of unemployed people. His life is about to drastically change when he meets health worker Sarah Downie, as they both fall in love. One of the soccer players is Liam; he has recently stopped using drugs. His girlfriend is supposed to be clean too, but she uses drugs from local crime boss Shanks secretly. Both get in trouble when the local crime boss Shanks wants money from Liam to cover his expenses, or he'll be forced to use drastic measures. Joe cares for Liam that much, that he wants to help him. He must make a serious decision. One that could endanger his relationship with Sarah and his life.
