Two couples, Richard and Sally Mathias & Jerry and Ruth Conant, meet up at Malibu Beach. Unbeknownst to Richard and Ruth, Jerry and Sally start an affair. At first, it is nothing more than a bit of fun, but as time progresses, the two of them feel that it is serious enough to divorce their current partners and get married. It seems an easy decision, but circumstances keep determining that they stay as they are. Sally & Jerry then start to wonder whether they will find the courage to come clean and set in motion the kind of circumstances that can ensure their future happiness.
