Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

Bookworm Catherine Morland has an incredibly active imagination and dreams of being a heroine in one of the many gothic novels she reads. She's invited by family friends to travel to the city with them. There she meets Henry Tilney, for whom she begins to fall, despite being pursued by John Thorpe, the brother of her friend Isabella. Henry invites Catherine to stay at his home, Northanger Abbey, and Catherine dreams of all the mysterious adventures she might find there.
