Coriander Hobie was born in London in 1643. When her mother died of mysterious cause, her Royalist father married a Puritan woman, but even this marriage couldn't save him from political enemies. He had to flee, leaving Coriander with her terrible stepmother and an even more terrible Puritan minister. She was locked in a chest, only to awaken in a different world, her mother's world. Here she discovered that her mother was a fairy princess, and that she must find her mother's fairy shadow in order to defeat an evil fairy queen and return the fairyland to normal. But the harder task was to decide which world she belonged to - was it the human world with her father and friends, or was it the fairy world with the once-enslaved fairy prince she'd freed?
