The planet Krypton is on the verge of destruction by the evil Kata-Zor. Jor-El sends his son, Kal-El to a planet that will protect him and guide him to becoming one of the most legendary figures to set foot on Earth. Superman - The Last Son of Krypton.
don't double post
I'm confused how you can one moment proclaim Smallville "the most brilliant show ever" and then turn around and complain about any other incarnation of the story being anything less than a stellar interpretation.
Smallville is origonal, while being true to the comics, to the core of Superman, telling the tale no one has told and yet keeping that forboding truth to him. With the films, they took their own verision of superman, changed his life and story around to fit their vision, although it may be origonal to an extent, it still doesn't hold that truth to it, that core of superman that resinated from the comics and from smallville

I hate to sound like an arse (and i'm certainly no Rhodes Scholar)... but if you spell check before you post, it's much easier for people to understand what the heck you're talking about.
btw, what the heck ARE you talking about? you keep throwing words like truth into a discussion about a fictional character. IMHO, the only folks who can tell the REAL story of the alien from Krypton (Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster) are long dead. In fact, when DC acquired Superman , they too changed the core tenets of who/what Superman was to fit their vision, and showed the creators the door with a swift kick in the pants, even after serving their country in WWII. So it all goes about in a cyclical fashion. You just have to decide whether you like a certain version of Superman, or just have a nice big cup of shut the hell up - and accept that there are multiple versions of the truth....sort of like the Clinton administration.
Let's keep the discussion civil. And your criticism of spelling errors carries more weight when you learn where the shift key is. Finally, let's leave politics out of it or I'll be forced to mention that I'd rather have many versions of the "truth" than a single version with no basis in reality reiterated ad infinitum by talking heads.
what does truth have to do with the character? Do these words ring a bell?: Truth, Justice, and the American Way. The character revolves around truth, fictional or not. With such an iconic charcter as Superman, there are always elements of truth. Of course there are various interpretations of Superman, various visions. But even through all the various tweaks, there are always, always, the core elements of the character, the elements that should not be altered because they are the anchor of who the character has evolved to be over the years. Orgin (not just the Kryptonian orgin, but the upbringing, and impact on society), The villan (the corporate tycoon, powerful and sucessful in the public eye. But cynical and twisted below).
You alter any of these things for your own original interpretation, and you alter with the core of the character, his truth, this is why certain people should not be involved with such iconic characters as Superman
I’d of loved this to be a period piece set in the forties directed by Kerry Conran. I mean really just imagine that, do it in a really serail like stlye, with out taking it self to seriously. I’d think it would be great.

Like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow???
Superman should not be anything but serious, a great true heroic story, nothing but
Kal-El/Clark Kent/Superman- James Caviezel
Jor-El- Ben Kingsley
Jonathan Kent- Harrison Ford
Martha Kent- Julianne Moore
Lois Lane- Jennifer Connelly
Lex Luthor- Jason Issacs
James "Jimmy" Olsen- Colin Hanks
I read the script review of Superman Returns and i think it's safe to say that Bryan Singer should not have taken on the task of Superman, he hasn't lived up to the bar the hero holds. I myself have just completed a Superman screenplay that would turn the franchise of Superman around, similar to what Batman Begins did. I think it's time we saw a Superman film that is closer to the comics than to the old films, start new, from the beginning like it should be told. I have just the story to do that
Are you kidding?
These are the worst choices ever for Jimmy Olsen
