A little article about the casting of Lois Lane
My money is on Mia Kirshner
5 of the 6 names on Singer's list are mysteriously on our casting list...interesting.
One must be his cousin.
Because we all know that hollywood directors get all of their *really* good casting ideas from this very website.
Tim Burton and Kevin Smith were gonna make a Superman Reborn movie with Nicholas Cage as Superman, but it got stuck in production. I don't think Burton should direct. How about Bryan Singer instead?

Which can only be taken as a sign that God does not unconditionally hate the movie-going public.

What's that supposed to mean?
A Tim Burton/ Nic Cage Superman would have torn the Superman character to pieces just as this Bryan Singer/ Brandon Routh film is going to be. If a film is to be made about Superman it should be made about the Superman from the comics, not based on the old films which wern't even close to the comics, and it shouldn't be about campy heroic events in Superman's comics either. It should be about the life journey of Kal-El, of how he went from Clark Kent farm boy to Superman world hero. That is a story people want to see, the story of Why?
What's that supposed to mean?
Well mostly it means that Cage hasn't done much I'd consider worth my time let alone my money in quite some time. Plus I'm fairly sure Clark Kent isn't supposed to be balding.

The Nicholas Cage Superman movie was going to be made in 1995, so, Nicholas Cage was a good ten years younger, then.

We already have that, it's called Smallville.
gorey, can you PLEASE stop double posting?
sorry.
I have so much to say, and I registered here recently.
The origonal Superman films were completly out of comic continuity, if you take such an iconic character as Superman from the comics you have to stay faithful to the comics, it's a matter of respecting not only where he came from but who he is. With this next film, it also takes a step out of comic continuity, a step some people accept and are interested in, and a step some people dissaprove of. Where will Smallville go after the series ends? Will it be left as we have to imagine the rest of Clark's journey? Will we have to imagine what larger other obstacles he must face in order to find his true calling as the man with the cape and red s?
The nightmare casting call. What makes it even scarier is that this almost happened.
Director- Tim Burton
Screenplay- Kevin Smith
Superman- Nicholas Cage
Lois Lane- Sandra Bullock
Lex Luthor- Jack Nicholson

It is true, this would have been casting hell, but the new cast, Bryan Singer, Kevin Spacey, and even Brandon Routh isn't much of a step up
Where will Smallville go after the series ends?
With any luck, into blissful obscurity from which it never really should have emerged in the first place.

Smallville is the most brilliant show ever. It took such an iconic hero like Superman and revealed a side and an age which no one has ever delved into, his vulnerable teenage years. When the series ends, it would be smart to do either one film or a trilofy of films telling how Clark goes from young Smallville farmer into larger than life Superman
Another release prooving that the latest encarnation of Superman to film will ruin everything about the history of the character. The infamous release of Brandon Routh as Superman in costume. Bryan Singer, why do you flaw it so much? The cape is leather, there is a yellow S on his belt, and the symbol on his chest is too small, too far up, and too 3 demensional. And to top it all off, Brandon Routh himself is far too small to fill out as Superman, he looks more like Superboy if anything. And top it all off, it is tied to the Christopher Reeves films, which in their own are so out of context with Superman continuity. I understand how many can accept changes to the X-men films, although popular, the X-men comics have no where near the same following as Superman does. Superman is the most iconic character in comic book history. By altering the universe to film to meet his own artistic view, which i might add is only based on the Richard Donner vision of the classic films, the preservation of Superman as the hero and icon he is is lost in todays generation. Bryan, you're work is well done, i'll grant you that, Usual Suspects was brilliant, but leave comic films (especialy with iconic characters as Superman) to those who wish to do them credit, and display them the way they should be.
