The story of the Dark Knight is dark and character-driven, exploring the tortured psychology of Bruce Wayne. His alter-ego, Batman, is a vigilante dedicated to protecting the citizens of Gotham City, which is overrun by organized crime and other dangerous individuals manipulating the system.
The new film looks amazing. Finaly, someone seems as if they are going to capture Batman as he should be. Burton did well, but he didn't seem to focus on Batman himself enough. And Shumaucher ripped the series to shreds. I believe Nolan will take this series out of the trash, dust it off and make it amazing once again. What i'm curious about is the sequal, still a while away yes, but still interesting anyways. I think it owuld be smart to introduce Harvey Dent in this film as Bruce's best friend, have him sprayed with Scarcrow's fear gas and open a darker side to him from the inside. Then in the sequal, explore that, with Two-Face. Who could play Two-face/Harvey Dent? I say Guy Pierce. It would be great contrast betwen Bale and Pierce. Something to think about
Yeah I agree Burton had the Queer eye.The sets looked great. But my pick for Batman would have been Alec Baldwin. But the short guys make for smaller sets so it was a smart move.
Except Alec Baldwin stinks.
I agree, Alec Baldwin maybe 20 years ago would have been good, while we're at it, 20 years ago Christian Slater maybe could have done Robin. But since they're both way too old, i love the casting of Christian Bale. Now all they have to do is get Guy Pearce for Two Face and it's perfect

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Burton was the best! You make it sound like Burton didn't even care for the character of Batman. I'll admit, he was kind of shrunk next to Danny Devito and Michelle Pfiefer in Batman Returns, but overall, he was portrayed perfectly by Keaton. As for Joel Shumacher, people say that the last two Batman movies were really bad, but that's because it has to compete with one of Warner Bros. top grossers of all time. Besides, Shumacher did sort of bring back that campiness of the original tv show. All I'm saying is that Tim Burton should be brought back.
I liked the first Batman; I think Returns was too confused and a little silly, and the others are really lousy.
But, I think Batman Begins will put them all to shame. I am really very impressed by the trailer. It seems like Nolan is going to depict extremely realistically how -- and why -- a person would transform himself into a figure like Batman. Burton, for all the positive things he did, did not convincingly do that, IMO.
My cast:
Batman - Wes Bentley. Yes, I know. But he's American, and I think he's just as good at playing this type of character as Bale, and looks the role more. I expect Bale to be excellent though.
Gordon - Oldman seems fine.
Alfred - I took John Cleese. I just don't see Caine as someone's servant, though I'm sure he'll do fine.
Joker - Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. Played a great bad guy in Gormenghast, and check out these pics, I think they're very Joker-esque.
Catwoman - Angelina Jolie. Has to be, IMO. Only person who has the look, the bod, and the sexy, playful personality. (In fact, her real life nickname is "Catwoman.")
Penguin - Bob Hoskins
Riddler - James Spader
Harley - Drea de Matteo
Poison Ivy - Nicole Kidman
Scarecrow - Adrien Brody
Mad Hatter - Paul Bettany
Two-Face - Andre Braugher
Ra's - John Malkovich
Talia - Kate Beckinsale
Nightwing - Brad Renfro
Robin - Liam Aiken
Barbara Gordon - Lindsay Lohan (I don't want to see Oracle)
Cassandra Cain - Don't wanna see her either, but I guess Zhang Ziyi
Huntress - Linda Cardellini
Leslie Tompkins - Joan Allen
I can't believe someone picked this guy for the Penguin...
Danny DeVito- Of course
Joe Pesci- Runner up of course
Bob Hoskins- Never thought of him...
... But AL PACINO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know he's kinda short, but what kind of an idiot would want, in my opinion, a highly distinguished actor portraying a crusty, nasty half-man half-bird!
I think there should be new blood in the batman series, danny devito was great as penguin but i think john leguizamo would be great too, look what he did with clown in spawn. as for the rest:
Joker: Johnny Depp/ Crispen Glover
Two Face: Guy Pearce
Mr. Freeze: Ben Kingsley
Penguin: John Leguizamo
Scarecrow: Cillian Murphey
Killer Croc: Vin Deasle
Riddler: Edward Norton
Catwoman: Ashley Judd

John Leguizamo!!!!!! Has everyone gone insane!
if Tim Burton is not making it, you can cast a hamburger and a tomato for all i care
Christopher Nolan is possibly the best director for Batman anyone could have. He brings the best element of reality into this film making it even darker than expected.
Guy Pearce makes a cameo in Batman Begins as Harvey Dent

The "Batman Series" sounds great to me. Do you think Kevin Smith named his daughter after Harley Quinn? I couldn't help laughing when the Joker said about Gotham City, "This town needs an enema."
Yes, Kevin did.
The worst move this series could take right now, since it seems to be finaly picking up steam in the right direction, would be to introduce Robin into the films. It's great how in the new film the most interesting character isn't only the bad guys, but infact, Bruce Wayne/ Batman. Alright DC, you're getting it right with one of your great characters, now time to pull it together for Superman, Give us something new
