Digimon Adventure by Akiyoshi Hongo, Toei Animation

During summer camp a group comprising of seven children are sucked into a digital version of a parallel reality called the Digital World. Once they each wake up they discover their own digital organic gaurdian/partner and a gizmo called a Digivice to help them out. Soon they discover that they are the DigiDestined, the children that will save the Digital World from dark forces, as well as Earth for that matter.
