Little Shop of Horrors is a comedy horror rock musical, by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour".
The story revolves around Franklin Shepard who, having once been a talented composer of Broadway musicals, has now abandoned his friends and his songwriting career to become a producer of Hollywood flicks. The musical begins at the height of his Hollywood fame and moves backwards in time, showing snapshots of the most important moments in Frank's life that shaped the man that he is today.
The title is pretty self explanatory. Joss Whedon has stated his interest in directing a Batman movie and I started to imagine what the cast for a Joss Whedon Batman film would be like.
Set in 19th century England, the musical tells the story of Benjamin Barker, aka Sweeeny Todd, who returns to London after 15 years' transportation on trumped-up charges. When he finds out that his wife poisoned herself after being raped by the judge who transported him, he vows revenge on the judge and, later, the whole world. He teams up with Mrs. Lovett and he opens a barbershop above her pie shop where he slits the throats of his customers and she bakes their bodies into pies.
Benedick and Beatrice are always fighting and arguing with witty banter and all of their friends decide to make a plan to get them to fall in love with each other. While this is going on, Claudio is in love with Hero (Leonato's daughter) and they arrange to be married but Don John (Don Pedro's half brother) plans to sabotage them.
