Any Number Can Die by Fred Carmichael

A hilarious take off on the mystery plays of the Twenties complete with sliding panels, robed figures, wills being read at midnight, etc. The idioms, costumes, hairdos, and make up of the period add to the thrills and laughter. Four ingenious murders take place in an island mansion as a pair of elderly detectives set to work on their first case. The ever popular storm, the unexpected guests, the cryptic poem, and the missing fortune all add to the intricate and inventive mystery off which the laughs bounce.

"Miracle on 34th Street" tells the classic tale of Kris Kringle, a fat, white-bearded gentleman claiming to be the real Santa Claus. During the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, the man hired to play Santa Claus shows up drunk. Thus, Kris is hired as a last-minute replacement. He is so good at his job that the children all believe him to be the real Santa Claus. Further, he helps spread a wave of love throughout New York City, fostering camaraderie between Macy’s and Gimbels Department Stores, giving happiness to a 6-year-old girl and bringing love to a divorced, cynical single mother.

Doctor Dolittle by Leslie Bricusse; based on the stories by Hugh Lofting

Adapted from the musical stage play, the movie concerns the classic tale of a wacky but kind Doctor who can talk to animals. The film takes the audience on a journey from the small English village of Puddleby-in-the-Marsh to the far corners of the world. The story starts with Doctor Dolittle wrongly accused of murder and once pronounced innocent, continues with his search for the Great Pink Sea Snail, the oldest and wisest of the creatures on earth.

The Boy Friend by Sandy Wilson

The setting is-where else?-the French Riviera. Polly, an English heiress attending Mme. Dubonnet's Finishing School, falls in love with Tony, a delivery boy. Recalling her father's warning to beware fortune seekers, she posses as a working girl, unaware Tony is in fact the missing son of the wealthy Lord Brockhurst. Things get complicated with the unexpected arrival in Nice of Polly's parents and Lord and Lady Brockhurst-but not to worry, a happy ending is in store for all.
