The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

The widely acclaimed novel tells the story of 16-year-old Holden Caulfield. After his expulsion from prep school, disillusioned Holden spends two days in New York disgusted by the phoniness of the adult world and ultimately succumbs to a mental breakdown. Upon recovering from the breakdown, Holden recounts his story to the reader.
